Modular Origami – Paper Lotus
We’ve already seen how to make a simple paper lotus using the technique of origami. This is a little advanced paper lotus which can be made with a few sheets of paper.
Glimpse of the Result:

How To:
Step 1:
Take 6 sheets of square paper of the same size. 4 sheets of paper for the lotus petals and 2 sheets for leaves.

Step 2:
Cut each sheet in half.

Step 3:
Take a sheet of paper and fold it in half. Make a crease and unfold.

Step 4:
Lift the corners and fold them inwards like triangles to meet the center crease.

Step 5:
Fold the top in half to meet the center crease. Repeat this for the bottom.

Step 6:
Fold the model in half outwards as shown.

Step 7:
Repeat steps 3 to 6 for all the pieces of paper.

Step 8:
We will now make a unit by using two petal pieces and one leaf piece.

Step 9:
Stack them as shown with the leaf piece within the two petal pieces.

Step 10:
Repeat the above two steps for all the units.
Step 11:
Stack the units together and secure them at the center using a string.

Step 12:
Spread the pieces as shown.

Step 13:
Flip the model.

Step 14:
Lift the top layer one by one.

Step 15:
Lift the top layer of all the pieces.

Step 16:
Lift up the second layer of all the pieces.

Step 17:
Flatten the leaves to complete.

Adjust the petals and leaves if needed and its done.
