Carnation flowers are simple to make and can be done well under 7 to 10 minutes using colored tissue paper or even using Cleenex. The methodology is outlined here.
Glimpse of the Result:

How To:
Step 1:
Take a sheet of tissue paper.

Cut it into 4 rectangles of equal size and place one rectangle over the other as layers.
Step 2:
Holdthe 4 layers together and make fan folds.

Step 3:
At the center of the fan folding, secure using a piece of string.

Step 4:
Hold the corners of the fold together and make a zig zag cut. Do this for both the sides of the paper.

Step 5:
Now expand the fan.

Step 6:
Lift each layer of the fold upwards one by one.
