This paper star slash snowflake model can be done using the simple technique of Kirigami in which a piece of paper is cut to get the desired pattern. I’ve attempted a colorful paper star here.
Glimpse of the Star:
Take a piece of paper and fold it like an equilateral triangle.
Fold it in half again by bringing the left corner towards the right.
Make diagonal cuts from the bottom side of the triangle towards the center. Ensure the cut does not meet the center, stop the cut an inch before the center fold is met.
Lift the center cut and paste the two sides of the triangle.
Flip and repeat the action for the next cut. Alternate the side and join the ends. You can either paste or staple the ends of each roll. One unit for the star is made.
Make 4 more such units and attach them at one of the ends.
Join all the 5 units and you have a modular Kirigami paper star.
This star can be done in smaller size and in one color to make three dimensional snowflakes.
